A small group of students from Mount Saint Mary’s University have been giving something back to the local community by helping out at a thrift store whose profits go towards providing food and other services to the area’s poor and homeless. Working together with other local volunteers, the students have been busy sorting through piles of donated goods to decide what can be sold and what can be given to those in need. Thanks to their enthusiasm and artistic flair, they have been arranging displays of clothes, books, shoes and bric-a-brac to make the items on sale and the shop itself more attractive to customers. Of course, they have also found the time to do a little bit of shopping themselves!
In these times of crisis, exacerbated by the unusually cold weather, more and more people are in need of the help and support provided by such small, locally-based organizations. The time and enthusiasm that these students have been dedicating to helping out in the store really is greatly appreciated.
