On Friday and Saturday last week, two groups of twenty students signed up for a day out in the hills above Florence to actually see an example of a Tuscan Vineyard. This one in particular Castello del Trebbio dates back the best part of 900 years...
The students gather in the courtyard to hear stories about the history of the area and how, as always, there is a strong Medici connection.
The view from the cellars.
Todd Bolton, guide and Wine Expert is in charge of pouring. Everyone was glad of the roaring fire.
After tasting three different wines and some of the local olive oil, it was time to stroll through the vines to a local, rustic ristorante for a tasty three course lunch.
Peaceful. Beautiful. Only fifteen miles from the centre of Florence.
After all that wine, lunch was much needed. The rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing around the table, sharing stories and exploring the farmyard before returning back to the city centre.
