Before we knew it, Martedi Grosso was upon us... Fat Tuesday as it is known in certain parts of the world. This brings an end to the season of carnival and it is time to get down to the serious business of lent, the period of forty days and forty nights before Easter.
One of the traditional events in Florence is a Carnival Concert with the Orchestra della Toscana. It is a mixture of light hearted performances as well as some serious recitals.
The students were encouraged to dress for the occasion and enjoy the surroundings of the Teatro Verdi.
We had almost sixty students in the theatre, both from Mount St Marys and California. They were spread throughout the theatre, all of them enjoying the novelty of their own box seats! (No comments about the Muppet Show please...)
Post performance, it was time to decide where to go next... Despite it being a school night, it was Fat Tuesday after all...
