Halloween

Falling as it does almost perfectly as a half-way marker for the semester, we at AIFS Florence saw the festival of Halloween as a great opportunity for all the students, faculty and AIFS staff to get together and catch up in a more relaxed atmosphere than the academic buzz and general hubbub that the Study Centre usually generates.
To this end, we decked out one of the main rooms here with Halloween decorations, lit candles, projected classic horror films across the walls (Nosferatu, Bela Lugosi’s incomparable Dracula, and Thriller being the favourites) and invited all four groups, with accompanying faculty, to an evening of costume competitions and apple-bobbing. Pizza was served, along with a drink, while AIFS staff did their best to guess what people had come as – this being quite a daunting task with the more ambitious costumes!

Apple-bobbing proved to be a great hit, with both faculty and AIFSers competing, and then a few prizes were handed out for costumes – special mentions going to Mark Trujillo’s Ace Ventura outfit, Fernanda Molina’s Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and Jordan Molles’ fantastic eye make-up.
All in all, it was a great event, and a good chance for everyone to touch base and enjoy a relaxed evening in each others’ company.
