There is a ripple of excitement in the AIFS office this morning. Isabel is on her way to the airport, Sophie and Ged will shortly be leaving for the hotel. In a few hours time the Northern California Study Abroad Consortium semester in Florence will begin! The flights are coming into European Airspace, the Welcome Packs are ready, the AIFS signs are polished, ready to be waved at the airports.
Unfortunately the weather Gods are not smiling on us. It is a currently a grey, damp, cloudy day. Florence does not have its best face on for welcoming our students. Have a look at the forecast here.
It is Europe, in January, so not much we can do about it we're afraid. We hope our messages about the weather are being heeded. One of our AIFS Ambassadors, Lauren Wrenn wrote to us:
"I am very excited about this trip and spending the semester in Florence. This morning I woke up with the realization that the trip is only two days away. I am busy packing lots of warm clothes"
We look forward to meeting Lauren and the rest of the students later today. We're sure the weather will not dampen anybodies enthusiasm, for what will be a fantastic semester!
Here we see Philippa, Sophie & Isabel getting the AIFS welcome packs ready at the end of last week. OK, time to get to the hotel...
